Asian produced products and hydroponics successful for Enza Zaden at Asia Fruit Logistica
Friday, 16 September 2011
The Asia Fruit Logistica 2011 has been very successful for Enza Zaden with a great number of visitors from the whole chain visiting the booth. Enza Zaden has invested a lot in Asia during the last 5 years, which has resulted in a professional distribution and R&D network and a much wider product range.
The Enza Zaden booth showed the results of this process: Malaysian blocky sweet peppers in all colours, mini sweet conicals, Chinese cucumbers, hot peppers, Asian cherry tomatoes and eggplant in different sizes, all Asian (locally) produced fresh products. Representatives from different Asian countries were continuously present at the booth.
Increase in hydroponics
A new hydroponic lettuce growing system was the ‘eye catcher’ of the booth. An excellent display of the latest Enza Zaden lettuce varieties, including the Eazyleaf range. In Asia, the hydroponic lettuce production increases rapidly, in area and in production capacity. Food security and a healthy product image are the most important factors in this development. The lettuce presentation therefore attracted a lot of attention of local Asian retailers, many visitors and local television networks.
There was a marked increase in visitors and participating exhibitors. The Asia Fruit Logistica is now seen as one of the most important discussion and networking forums in the Asian fruit and vegetable chain.
